Pre-Production Ideas

Pre-Production Planning

What is your subject/What do you want to say?
I have chosen Cyberbullying as my subject. Ever since I can remember, I’ve been bullied and up until recently it has calmed down. I know how it feels to be bullied. Having a younger brother also lets me know that his generation also get bullied. To me, bullying is a serious issue and shouldn’t be happening. Bullying online seems to be becoming more popular and after I have heard about serious cases of Cyberbullying where the victim has committed suicide has made me realize that people need to be more aware of what their children do on the laptop or PC.

Who is your audience/target market?
My documentary will be mainly aimed at adults. I don’t think they realize how much cyberbullying takes part and effects the children and teenagers affected. A documentary like this will inform them. Also, the victims of cyberbullying can see what help is available.

Where do you want to film?
I will mainly film at home, library and various other places around school (playground). I will film at home either on a computer and use cutaways such as computer keyboards and screens. At school, I will film school children and look for obvious divisions. Also, to see the way children act in real life and interview some about their ‘online identities’. In the library, I can use the computers there and use the room too film interviews.

What previous documentaries/current media inspires you?
As childish as this will sound, I’m a big fan of media icon Demi Lovato. She has a strong belief about bullying as she was bullied herself as a kid. She has teamed up with an organisation called Pacer. I think the work she does and the way she inspires teenagers and children is wonderful. So, that’s one of my main inspirations. Also, as I mentioned before, I was bullied all throughout Middle School and High School – not so much online, but either way, it isn’t the nicest feeling. I know how it feels and I believe no one else should feel like that at all. Kids need to be able to voice their own opinions and dress the way they want and listen to the music they’re into without other people pressurising them about it.

What expertise do you currently have?
I have excellent ICT skills. I enjoy working with computers and technology – even if it fails me all the time. I also have the expertise from not only myself, but my peers. With their help I’ll be able to produce a well-performed documentary. Also, having resources like the school grounds and computers will help me. My main expertise aren’t even mine, haha!

A2 Media

Oh, it's lovely to be back to Sixth Form. So, for A2 Media we're creating documentaries and also doing some print work - which I'm excited about. I've been working on a hard-copy of my portfolio all afternoon. I have designed a PowerPoint which I can present and I also have all my research too.

I also thought, since it's a new academic year, I'd change my layout. So now I have a fancy new theme. Anyway! I better get back to doing this portfolio. Script next!

xo.
